Princess Academy by Shannon Hale

This is another really good book by Shannon Hale, who also wrote Enna Burning and The Book of a Thousand Days.
The book is about a fourteen-year-old girl, Miri, who is taken away with the rest of the girls in the village, to learn to be a princess. The wise men have chosen their mountainside village as the home of the next princess. The prince will pick one of the girls at the academy to be his wife. Miri does not want to leave her home, and hates the woman who runs the academy: she dishes out punishments with barely any excuses. But as her time at the academy lengthens, Miri starts to wonder what it would be to be princess…
