Cornelia Funke, on Meggie’s abandonment of Farid

After pondering for months WHY this happens, I found this little tit-bit in Cornelia Funke’s FAQ section.

“I feel very strongly that Farid will want the same life Dustfinger led for a while- going off by himself and probably falling in love with a lot of girls, while Meggie yearns for a place to stay and for someone, who loves her more than anyone else- which I think Doria will do.”

I’m still not convinced.
